pura vida nosara

Visiting Nosara Costa Rica was a highlight and I cannot wait to go back to visit (or live) there!

Nosara, Costa Rica, is a tranquil beach town located on the Nicoya Peninsula, known for its stunning coastline, vibrant wildlife, and commitment to sustainability. This area is a haven for surfers, yoga enthusiasts, and nature lovers alike. The beaches, such as Playa Guiones, offer waves suitable for all skill levels, making it a popular destination for both beginners and experienced surfers.

One of the defining features of Nosara is its lush natural surroundings, including the Nosara Biological Reserve, which helps protect the region's rich biodiversity. Visitors often enjoy spotting monkeys, iguanas, and a variety of bird species as they explore the hiking trails or relax in the serene atmosphere.

Yoga retreats and wellness centers are abundant, offering a variety of classes and programs that cater to different levels of experience. Many people visit Nosara to find balance and rejuvenate their minds and bodies, making it an ideal location for wellness tourism.

The town itself maintains a relaxed, laid-back vibe, with a mix of local Tico culture and expatriate influence. Cafés, restaurants, and shops often feature organic and locally sourced ingredients, reflecting the community's commitment to health and sustainability.

With its beautiful natural landscape, commitment to wellness, and vibrant community, Nosara presents a unique opportunity for travelers seeking relaxation, adventure, and a connection to nature.

We spent a week there with our 3 kids and another family of 4. Here’s what we enjoyed most:

  • Book an Airbnb or VRBO for the week. Very affordable accommodations compared to staying in a hotel.

  • Book transportation from the airport to your accomodations.

  • Book ATV and golf cart to use for the visit. The road are very rustic and sealed with tar.

  • Food: Beach dog for lunch; Go juice truck; Gabby’s is an outdoor food court. Amazing açaí bowl; Burgers and beers; Favorite lunch is at the organic store next to coconut Harry’s at top of town near paris bakery (not next to beach dog). They have great tuna bowls.

  • Surf shop is Agua Tibia

  • Yoga is at Harmony hotel. Great teachers, jungle background. Also Bohdi tree yoga which is a resort with lots of classes, juice bar and restaurant.

  • La Luna a must, try to make reservation at sunset outside

  • Secret spot has yummy ice cream - next to it is an organic store.

  • Iguana beach club is nice for dinner.

  • We had NYE dinner at El Chivo which was really fun and casual.

  • Paris Bakery has good pastries and croissants.

  • Nosara Bagel was great for a few morning breakfast pickups

I hope you enjoy a visit if you go!

Pura Vida!
